The Jefferson Rotary Club is putting the finishing touches on its 16th annual benefit auction. The dinner and auction will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Elks lodge in Jefferson. Social hour and a silent auction begins at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner at 6:30 and the live auction at 7:30.
Masters of ceremonies will be Adam Pedersen and Dave Simonson. The father-son team of Kevin and Caleb Lentz will be auctioneers.
The 41-page auction catalog, listing all items for both auctions, is now available. Many items have a safari theme, with an African safari headlining the auction. For the complete catalog, click on the zebra ad/link on GreeneCountyNewsOnline. A very limited number of seats are still available for the dinner, but bidding by proxy can be arranged by talking with any Rotarian.
Rotary auctions have generated more than $300,000 in improvements in Greene County and beyond. Youngsters have benefited through school activities and programs, preschool, childcare and mentoring. Seniors have benefited through improvements to meal sites and health care. Auction proceeds have supported Greene County communities through libraries, parks, playgrounds and the Jefferson municipal swimming pool. Rotary supports the Greene County Fair, the Greene County Historical Society, the Greene County Christian Action Resource Center food pantry, Adopt-a-Family and Habitat for Humanity.
Additionally, the local Rotary club supports Rotary International’s effort to rid the world of polio and to address “health, hunger and humanity” needs worldwide.
